With the new levels of Protection and Performance, Amsoil is again breaking new ground in the motor oil industry overpowering industry standard specifications
The new formulations of the Amsoil Signature Series, XL and OE motor oil lines will be launching soon and putting Amsoil passenger car motor oil line(PCMO) way ahead of the game.
The passenger car motor oil industry standards will get some new specifications soon for automobile motor oil and car manufacturers will have to meet. The ever evolving engine technologies and the stricter regulations requiring changing specifications, will put pressure on motor oil companies and automobile car manufacturers to update their formulations to meet the latest requirements. Amsoil has once again led the way and found the most innovative solutions to the new requirements.
Why the new specifications?
The new industry standard regulations that specifically targets fuel economy and emissions have pushed the automotive industry to develop and implement smaller, more efficient engines. With direct injection (GDI) and turbochargers now being employed in new automobiles to meet the rising corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) standards, the PCMO industry is forced to follow and that creates new burdens on motor oil manufacturers. Two very serious challenges that arise from the use of GDI and turbos are Low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) and increased engine temperatures. Two new engine oil specifications for gas automobiles have been developed to address these issues:
Dexos1® Gen 2 [General Motors (GM)*] – which is expected to be released sometime in late August of 2017
API SP/ILSAC GF-6 – which is expected to be released sometime in the Fall of 2019
After months of intense research and development, Amsoil has settled on new formulations for their PCMO line that far surpass the latest standards and also adds another level of performance and protection to its’ already superior foundation.

Improving on the Signature Series line was definitely a challenge because it already exceeded industry standards. However the test results of the new formulations far exceeds the the newer industry standards that were put forward. Taking advantage of its firmly established success, Amsoil has upgraded the Signature Series motor oil line that will satisfy automobile enthusiasts with the maximum protection and performance. Even though the formulation has changed, the price hasn’t changed and the new formulation will become available in September of 2017 or when the current inventory is used up. It exhibits:
75% more wear protection
100% protection from LSPI
Trust from professional engine builders
50% more cleaning power
Compatibility with Turbo & direct injection
Guaranteed protection for up to 25,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first
With respect to the current Amsoil XL Synthetic Motor Oil line.
Amsoil XL Synthetic Motor Oils featured an advanced formulation that delivered more cleaning power and promoted a longer engine life. The new formulation provides an even longer extended drain interval, providing up to 12,000 miles or one year of protection. It is engineered for advanced automotive technology, including turbochargers and direct injection. The XL motor oil line from Amsoil is the perfect choice for automotive enthusiasts who want to do something extra for their vehicles. The formulation has changed, however the price has not. It will be available in October 2017 and it exhibits:
25% more cleaning power
100% protection against LSPI
Protection that lasts up to 12,000 miles (2,000 more than the current formulation) or 1 year, whichever comes first
Meets or exceeds the requirements needed to be API-licensed, so that it can meet the specifications commonly found in automobile owner’s manuals
With respect to the Amsoil OE synthetic motor oil line.
Amsoil OE Synthetic Motor Oil delivers 100% engine protection for advanced automotive technology, including turbochargers and direct injection. It’s specifically formulated for the longer drain intervals recommended by original equipment manufacturers (OEM). Amsoil OE synthetic motor oil line is favored by mechanics and drivers alike that seek peace-of-mind protection and exceptional value from a synthetic motor oil. The formulation has changed, however the price has not. It exhibits:
100% protection against LSPI
Excellent wear protection
Sludge and deposit protection
Meets or exceeds the requirements needed to be API-licensed so that it can meet the specifications commonly found in automobile owner’s manuals
LSPI is a burning topic in the lubricant industry these days. Auto manufacturers need to pull out every bit of fuel economy that is possible from the vehicles they produce in order to meet progressively demanding government regulations. Manufacturers make fuel-economy gains in their vehicles by adjusting the vehicles’ programming, however with those changes comes the guarantee that LSPI will occur. The effect of LSPIs’ disastrous effects are one of the compelling reasons for the mad scramble that is ensuing to meet the new motor oil specifications. Also to gain about 10% more fuel economy, auto manufacturers will eventually reprogram their vehicles to maximize mpg, inviting LSPI and relying on motor oils to prevent harmful results.
