When the world’s first API qualified synthetic motor oil in 1972 by Amsoil, it was neglected on store shelves next to its much cheaper conventional-oil counterparts. Synthetic oil was new to market and not many people knew of it or understand its benefits. All that changed with the introduction of the Dealer network in 1973. Dealers were able to communicate the benefits of synthetic lubricants much better than the product labels could, and the company grew by leaps and bounds quickly.
